Frequently Asked Questions

How is it done? Concrete: There are five steps to coating a concrete surface. Step 1. Start by preparing the concrete, grind the surface using diamond tooling then vacuum any debris. Step 2. Apply a primer epoxy and let sit overnight. Step 3. Apply an intermediate epoxy coat that will either be a solid color, covered with flake, or blended with metallic pigments. Step 4. Wait overnight, then apply a top coat to seal the coatings. Step 5. Wait at least 72 hours before heavy traffic and then enjoy your new floor. Countertop: There are five steps to coating a countertop. Step 1. Start by preparing the countertop, clean the surface using denatured alcohol and wrap off the area with tape and plastic to avoid a mess. Step 2. Apply a primer. Step 3. Apply a metallic or stone colored epoxy then mix in any highlights and blend. Step 4. When the epoxy starts to slow in viscosity remove any tapping to allow the epoxy to roll over the edge and then smooth the edges. Step 5. Use a putty knife to take care of any dripping edges and wait a few hours to cure then cleanup any tapping and plastic.

How long does it last? Floors: The following can guarantee a great looking floor for a lifetime. Keep any grinding abrasives like sharp furniture or gravel from tires to a minimum. Clean with a wet mop or use diluted ammonia, citrus cleaners or vinegar can slowly degloss the epoxy finish. Countertop: Mild dish soap, Crystal Simple Green, and most non-abrasive household cleaners are good options for daily cleaning.

What is the cost? The cost to coat your surface can vary depending on a few factors. 1st Size: The square footage will impact the overall price. 2nd Type of coating: Water-based coatings are cheaper than solvent-based coatings However, solvent-based coatings provide superior protection and durability. 3rd Condition: If your surface is in good condition, then it will take less work to prep. 4th Brand: Higher quality epoxies and polyaspartics will cost more than lower quality brands. The cost to coat a floor varies, but you can expect it to start at $2,000 for a floor and $1200 for countertops with professional service. This includes the cost of materials, labor, and equipment. Of course, the actual price will vary depending on the size and condition of your surface, as well as the specific products and methods used.
